How Concrete Demo Works

The process starts with breaking. We use electric or pneumatic jackhammers to break the slab into pieces small enough to handle — typically chunks in the 30 to 80-pound range, depending on the thickness and the rebar situation. Slabs with heavy rebar are trickier because you have to deal with the steel as you go.

Once the slab is broken, the pieces are loaded into our truck manually. Concrete is too heavy for most mechanical loading situations in residential settings, so this is hands-on work. We load until the truck is at capacity, haul it to the disposal site, and come back for additional loads if needed.

For projects that require precision removal — say, pulling out a section of driveway while leaving the adjacent apron and neighbor’s side intact — we use saw cutting to score clean lines before breaking.

Rebar and wire mesh from the concrete can often be separated and recycled as scrap metal, which we handle as part of the job.

Concrete Weight and Pricing

Concrete is priced differently than most junk removal because it’s so heavy. A standard truck load of concrete is much less volume than a truckload of drywall or household junk. We’re upfront about this during the estimate process so you understand how pricing is calculated for concrete work.
